In this Ignite Phoenix talk, young Schuyler St Leger, a 10-year-old 3D printer hacker, explains just why he loves his kit-built Makerbot 3D printer, and explains how your 3D printer might transform your life.
Why I Love My 3D Printer
That’s so awesome. No matter if he did all that him self or not that was great. Now I want a 3d printer…
What impressed me the most was how that kid kept his act together no matter how the audience was reacting!
As leadership in the local hackerspace Schulyer attends, I can confirm that he very much did all that himself. He is a brilliant young man and frankly prints us parts to keep our 3d printers running.
Wow – if I _had_ presentations to do, I think I’d hire Schulyer to design them! That was great.
I love how the audience is all like “OMG it talks!!! and points at things!! WOOO! WOOOO!!!”
Yeah, they are really right up his ass there… it’s disconcerting.
That kid needs to be in a TV spot. Think of how many kids would be begging their parents – who’ve probably never heard of 3D printing – for a MakerBot!
Best childhood ever!
The audience is probably laughing in support. But not everything was intended to be a joke. Good thing the kid took it all in stride.
This is great, but it looks like his name is misspelled in the post (see his first slide — it’s Schuyler, not Schulyer.) Probably means a lot to a 10-year-old kid.
He’s actually got a really good sense of comedic timing, all things considered.
Different video here offers a closer look at this little wunderkind.
