Dan Bull (best known as the British copyfighting rapper behind such ditties as Dear Lily) was inspired by the wrenching trailer for zombie game Dead Island, and so he re-created it using footage from Shaun of the Dead. Says Dan, "Somehow the star Simon Pegg found the video, and got in touch with me to say it's 'the greatest trailer I've ever seen'." I'm inclined to agree!

Shaun of the Dead Island (mashup by Dan Bull) (Thanks, Dan!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Couldn’t watch all of the ‘Dead Island’ trailer. I hit the stop button when the little girl’s eyes turned back to human.

This mash up is much easier emotionally. Agree with ADavies – decent acting slowed down, played backward and with that music. Even better sped up and played forward. Comedy is hard work. I watch ‘Shaun of the Dead’ every Halloween.

It’s not really a mash-up or a recreation. It’s just playing a scene backward set to the Dead Island music. You could do that for ANY movie.

enjoyed the film… but the trailer is smashing! thx 4 sharing!

  • ADavies

You know, I never realized it before, but that’s some damn fine acting.

Should have started and ended with them playing video games.
