Well the lack of skill by everybody singing along does put her abilities in high relief.

  • Neel Apachy

    She did well…

Would definitely make stranded in an airport much more tolerable!

  • DoctressJulia

Oh, Cyndi Lauper, you kick so much ass… :D

  • Ant

Wow, she keeps signing that 1980/80s old song everywhere even on
    Celebrity Apprentice. :D

    • robulus

Yeah!! It’s almost like that is her best known work and it holds a place in the hearts of everyone who listened to popular music when it was released!!! What is up with that???????? LOLZ!!!!

  • DoctorWu

The universal coolness of this is astounding. One question: where’s Captain Lou?

It’s nice to see that there are actually a few celebs worth paying attention to. Talent, comeraderie, and having fun!

  • Elliottw

Yeah, I was fooled by King Philip IV. Never again.

We see your true colors shining through. We see your true colors and that’s why we love you.

  • DJBudSonic

I guess it’s a sign of the popularity of her music that everyone has to sing along despite the desperate ‘shushing’ haha Cyndi is #1 I love the promo you did for WCBN FM

    Kewl!

  • burritoflats

Cyndi’s great! But that help desk microphone she’s using is totally great!

  • Gunn

I was stranded at an airport for four hours last night, and I sure wish we’d had Cyndi along….

Whilst the singing was good, the amount of photos taken by the kid in the red top was my highpoint!

  • noah django

grabbing the mic and rocking the spot LIKE A BOSS!

  • Drew from Zhrodague

    She bop, indeed.

  • Calimecita

How cool that it happened here! I had no idea, thanks Xeni and BB for the heads-up :-)

I think this must be the only time that one of those eternal delays was worth something – what a treat! From what I read in the YouTube thread, the stranded passengers had commandeered the microphone in protest.

100s of pictures of other people’s cameras and phones were taken

  • AlmostLucy

    That’s sweet!

Strangely enough, Cyndi is the only celeb I’ve seen at the airport. I was headed from San Francisco to LA on my way back from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, she was at the next gate over, to Denver, iirc. She was dressed almost identically, only with a grey and blue scarf.

  • classic01

Wow. Her voice is pitch perfect. In the 80′s pop stars actually had talent.

    • TenInchesTaller

Today they do too, trust. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry rep some serious vocals in real life. It’s the 90s stars that missed out on the talent…

  • Anonymous

Can you believe this? Before Autotune, we had artist who could actually sing!!!

  • pinehead

Just another reason to love Cyndi Lauper. Interestingly, she damaged her vocal cords in 1977 and was told by doctors that she’d never sing again. 34 years later, she’s still world-famous for singing her great songs.

That was here, in the Aeroparque de Buenos Aires (AEP), Cyndi Lauper had a show in a local theatre and she were going to Santiago, but the plane was delayed, so…

  • Vasco

Crazy. I was at that airport on Friday at the same time that this went down and missed it completely. Heck, my flight even left on time without the need for rioting passengers who could only be subdued by a Cyndi Lauper seranade. Crazy world, this one.

OH! I *finally* know what that lyric is: “When the working day is done”.

In my teens I thought it was something like “What in the world can take a stun”, which I couldn’t wrap my head around.

  • DieFem

She is toooooo cool. My wife loves her. Why she is not coming to Uruguay???. :(

  • kmoser

Pity the poor stranded travelers nearby who were trying to get some shut-eye.

If anybody else had done this, they would’ve been dragged through an extra level of security.
