Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's sweded reenactment of the droids-on-Tatooine scene from Star Wars is a naked attempt to create a viral ad for their new movie Paul, but that doesn't make it any less funny.

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

I’m pretty sure we’re not using the P-word any more.

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this rant.

      • RedShirt77

The best rants are the redletter media reviews of star trek and star wars.

the prequel reviews have me laughing until I cry.

Yes! I still need to finish watching those.

Worth it entirely for the noise Nick Frost makes at the end :-)

  • whizse

Kinda reminds me of the ESB tribute in Spaced, with Nick Frost making Chewbacca noises…

That was officially funnier than ‘Paul’

  • Anonymous

wow, that was funny. funny film also… Pegg & Frost are legends, even if they have sold out a bit, and more than likely sold there souls

I’m unfamiliar with this particular use of the word “swede.” Where did it come from? What exactly does it mean?

  • AirPillo

It’s hard not to love those guys.

  • jon_anon

Ok, I get the meaning of the verb “to swede” from context and a quick google search, but I’ll bite: why is it called that?

    • Jesse M.

Apparently the term “swede” was made up in the movie Be Kind Rewind, where they tried to pass off their homemade movie recreations as being from Sweden.

On my first reading of the title, I’d taken “frost” to be the verb, and “swede” to be an inadequately capitalized adjective…
