Suggested by several Boing Boing readers as a necessary counterpoint to last week's epic Game Deaths video, YouTuber jtd786's "Chopper Dance" -- recorded from Jordan Mechner classic game Prince of Persia -- has a similarly predictable ending.

yep, i had PoP on my PC and used to do this too :D

you could also do pull-ups on a ledge.

  • bcsizemo

Actually the music reminded of the music from the game City Connection on NES…..

Regardless of the ending, that was a great 41 seconds to start the day with :-)

The dreams in which I’m dancing are the best I’ve ever had.

    • Ed Ligget. Tuba.

Oddly, it only took me about 10 seconds to place that lyric as being from a Tears for Fears song, but I’ve been unable to figure out which song or even recall the melody for the last 5 minutes. Now I’m going to break down and look it up…

The reference was this earlier post, which used it as a sound track, with this mp3 of the soundtrack made available later.

Mad World! Damn it. My brain must be going.

      So happy :)

I’m pretty sure I don’t have to see the movie adaptation now.

The music is from the game EarthBound

    Hey, spoiler warning please!

  • Bookburn

    Wait… explain to me…

I had a hand me down SNES with Prince of Persia when I was younger. But that prince looked so much more… Persian. In this video he looks like a character from “Saved by the Bell”. When did the young prince inherit (if that’s the word) a crude “Persian” look?

And the “hell” levels freaked me out. Freaked me OUT!

    Still have nightmares.

  • ymendel

I used to do this all the time. Yes, it was one of the more inane ways I amused myself with this game, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.

  • paulatz

I had never seen PoP in colors! I’m literally shocked by he being blonde

i was really afraid of these things. Particularly the loud screeching beep that came out from my pc speaker when it got me.

  • Anonymous

Bookburn: it looks different because it’s the PC version.

I also played the SNES version, it’s a bit longer, graphisms are a little better, and the game is WAY easier (I never finished the PC version).

Loved the video ^^ ! I used to do that as well while playing Prince of Persia !

    @Anon #12

Yeah, I had exactly the same: PC sound horrors!

Also the skeleton made a horrible sound that made my friend nausceous…

And one of the bosses of castle Wolfenstein gave my little brother nightmares (Castle Wolfenstein).

    Memories…

  • Boondocker

I still have that game. It fits on a 3.5″ floppy.

    Super, super, super game.
