I know, it's amazing. The man has the head of the CIA at his personal beck and call, has apparently spent "2 million dollars" hiding/creating this thing, and these guys apparently think that some pimply kid with a computer accidentally switched font a couple times as he was typing this on his Mac, had to forge both signatures himself because he couldn't find anyone else around, and then forgot to merge the layers together?

These people are pinheads. There is nothing more that needs to be said.

Obama is running scared now. He called in a favor from the Reptoids to aim their tornado gun at the deep South so there'd be a distraction and no one would notice all those inconsistencies.

At this point I really don't care about the birth certificate, I mean 2012 is only next year...

I don't really care if he produced it, or it's made out of pure gold, or whatever. It took two years for him to finally decide he should show it? That's just throwing more fuel on the fire. He'd been better off just letting the birthers hang out in right field and call it a day.

I like the Buzzfeed comment that "Please remember that Obama is as White as he is Black". That puts a whole new spin on things. It's like that situation on Star Trek with the white-on-one-side, black-on-the-other guys. But is he Black on the left or right side?

I like the fact that these people think that if the President of America had a fake certificate made, he couldn't get it done properly.
If anything all the little things should reinforce the fact it's real.
After all if it was a fake wouldn't it be spot on perfect forgery?
I'd wager the US government has access to one or two agencies that are very good at fake ID

The stuff about the fonts is parody, though there probably are some idiots who'd believe it if Glenn Beck told them to. The real problem for Obama is political strategy - Trump's not dumb enough to believe any of this himself, so the question is what effects the birther stuff will have on the Republicans' ability to run a credible candidate in 2012.

Trump's just shown that a third to half of the Republican party are willing to support a candidate who's only got one issue which everybody knows is a bogus lie, because they'd rather believe that than have to acknowledge that a black Democrat is President. If he keeps leading them around like trained animals, where will they go when he stops waving shiny things at him? Will it leave room for a more moderate Republican like Romney or Mitch Daniels to step in and say "time to let responsible adults run things again", or will it be a previously-unacceptable right-winger with a platform of "see, I'm less crazy than Trump's supporters!" If Obama let them keep going, would it tear the Republican Party apart, leaving a damaged former right wing and a hopeless farther right wing (Rove and his gang chased out most of the actual moderates, though some could come back up from the states.)

It's a timing and tactics thing, and maybe he knows what he's doing, or maybe he just doesn't trust Trump and thinks it's better to squash him now and get some positive political momentum rather than let the right-wingers bash him for the next month about how badly the economy's still doing.

Wouldn't Obama be politically better off if he just *let* the right tear itself apart?

It happened in Canada over a decade ago. Crazy Randroids and racists formed their own party, got a surprisingly large number of candidates in from mostly-rural westerners, and ushered in ten years of middle-party rule.

Then they played nice with the party they'd danced away from, evicted the loudmouthed racists, took over, and now they've been running minority governments.

Harper hides his lunacy behind his powerlust these days.

When my second kid was born, we all forgot to look at the clock, or to weigh him. Numbers were made up.

Stuff happens in childbirth. They're lucky to have a document.

Unless I'm misinterpreting the title, Number 2 and Number 8 solve each other. If the birth certificate wasn't filled out for a couple days after the birth, that offers a plausible explanation for why someone with an immediately subsequent birth had a lower number - the second person was born and their birth certificate was filled out in the period between Obama's birth and filing.

Also the bit about the numbers being out of sequence is funny. Obviously you get the number when you type the details into the computer, right? Or perhaps each doctor has a pad of birth certs which they work through, then go for another one.

Very funny, yes. But I'm not sure of the effects of such jokes. There was in France in the 60's the Orlean Rumor. It has been studied by the french sociologist Edgar Morin. It started with a group of schoolgirls spreading a rumor that young women were being kidnapped from clothing boutiques in Orleans, owned by jewish owners. The President of the Jewish Committee of Orleans, tried to kill the Rumor with a joke, saying that the victims were spirited away by submarine. But unfortunately it has been transformed as a new element of the rumor.
