Is yours the 'Alphabet Pal'? I noticed the same thing when my kids were playing with it. It took a while to figure out what was going on. Sometimes it woudld just giggle and say 'that tickles', but there didn't seem to be much reason for it. Finally, I realized that what has just been said was the start of something 'naughty'. For instance, in this case, the N sound from "nine" is being used as the beginning of "motherf---". Ventriloquists use this and many other tricks to be able to say certain words by only moving their tongues instead of opening and closing their mouths. They will form a 'T' sound to replace the 'P' sound, and they will use a 'D' sound to replace a 'B' sound. 'S' to replace 'F'. It sounds credible to me.
