Chris Duffy created this Woodsman Axe coffee table for a London design show based on the stories of the Brothers Grimm. The table, made from Stewardship Council oak veneer, costs £495.00. The axe-heads are made of resin composite.

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Just don’t take it for a walk in Swindon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-13436139

Seeing the back of the axe facing the camera split in two and aligned poorly (or falling apart, hard to tell) does not impress upon me that this was built well.

Reminds me of a Stephen McClure / Emily Marilyn photo

Who is responsible for this hatchet job!?!

I would suggest reading the book, Grimm’s Fairy Tails.

I have an old edition that my father read to us at night before bed, prior to reading us The Hobbit and the trilogy.

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~spok/grimmtmp/ is a poor version, but will give you an idea of what was considered good reading for children many years ago.

I suggest you all read it.

Looks even better for a Portland Timbers fan.

Sounds like it would have been cheaper to just use four normal axes…

  • bcsizemo

It would have been better if those were 4 real axes used during the cutting and shaping of the wood to make the table…(you know if it wasn’t veneer…)

Awesome table, perfect for a man cave. Kinda gives me a slasher-film vibe, it’d be cool to get this with redwood.

second photo down has a table supported by axes (stone replicas.) not inspired by the Brothers Grim, but fascism :/
