[Video Link] Miles O'Brien interviewed the Endeavour crew in a "live from space" webcast this morning, for PBS NewsHour. The interview took place as the shuttle and space station complex flew about 250 miles above earth, traveling at 17,500 miles per hour. Bad ass! Transcript here.

It was awesome to watch, though the questions about Giffords tended to make me cringe. (He’s floating around in space and you ask about his wife? Really? I guess she is a public figure though.. I donno).

The somersault at the end was very cute. :P

It’s a pity I only thought of a question to ask long after the fact (probably wouldn’t have made the cut anyway).

Having been up since 5:45 am I am just about to keel over, but it was worth it. :P

Ya all the Gabby talk was stupid. OK she lived and courageously defied the odds. But for crying out loud more news has been about her in this mission than the mission itself.

Miles looks like he’s getting younger.

What’s the point of a “live” interview when the questions are submitted days in advance?

  • Proxy Toaster

Yeah, I would have thought Miles would have just very briefly touched on Giffords and moved on to the questions, but instead he begged for a Gabby bracelet. Oh well…

That aside, the video was great. I loved that they did the group somersault, that kicked ass. It’s great to see the astronauts have fun, and it makes you so frakkin’ jealous!
