Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen funded the Allen Brain Observatory, a detailed, rich data-set derived from parts of a mouse-brain: what’s striking is that the Allen Institute released all the data into the public domain, at once, as soon as it was available, which is exactly what you’d want the publicly funded alternatives to do, and […]
British science writer Ed Yong’s new book I Contain Multitudes: The Microbes Within Us and a Grander View of Life is a history of gut flora and bacteria, which first entered our consciousness as a scourge to be eliminated and has lately become something between a cure-all (see the universe of “probiotic” food supplements) and […]

Hmm, I wonder if I can take my Tesla, or next year my Ford Fusion in to the Nissan dealership and charge it up?
I would advise caution before relying on any list such as this. Several lists of NGV filling stations still list a shell station near my house, despite the fact that the actual pump was removed more than a year ago.
word in the comments on some nissan charging stations is that they welcome all electric vehicles, but are happy when they see a Leaf charging.
There is another site that does pretty much the same thing. And they have an iPhone app too!

i agree. recargo.com has more station listings and a better interface.
I heard that in San Francisco all city-owned lots will get a charging station. And, to encourage electric car use, charging will be free during the kickoff of the program.
I thought that the only way to really do this is to have charging stations for batteries, not cars. You would just pull up and swap your battery for a fully charged one: faster than a gas fill up.
What about degradation of the battery, though? They lose capacity with time. Also, I’m assuming that they’re heavy.
There’s a Buffalo Wild Wings near my house with charging stations right near the front.
Now, if only I had an electric car, I could go out for wings and beer more often.
