Los Alguiens, a Mexican (?) band, have produced this video for their song "El Internet," in which all the glories and wonders of the Internet are put on display. Ole!

Los Alguiens - El Internet (Thanks, Robbo!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

  • Enormo

I knew George Lucas would get his mojo back!

As a Mexican, I can confirm that this is indeed Mexican.
Also, it reminds me of those people who would come to birthday parties dressed as superheroes (you had to pay them to, of course) and who would then do a stupid dance or a small show. Except, of course, in crazy mode.

I’ll have to send this to my pals and see how they react.

    Hilarious video! Already seen in:

    Great!

  • Nicky G

OK, I feel that this video and the mommy/baby cat-hugging video need to slug it out, to fight for best internet video ever.

  • Nicky G

I don’t speak a lick of Spanish btw — would someone so inclined please post an English translation?

      Happy to oblige:

The internet, the internet, the internet.
The internet, the internet, the internet.

You want to download a song? <- not sure about this line
      Download it from the internet.

You want to get a girlfriend?
Look for her on the internet.

      Wanna have a party?
      Make it on the internet.

      Wanna read the news?
      See them via internet.

      Chorus

      (Girl)
Look, little boy: I won’t give you my phone number, but better write down my email.

      @ Hotmail, @ Gmail,
@ Yahoo!, and also the YouTube.

      Dot com Dot mx
      Dot com Dot mx

      Chorus

      Wanna try on a dress?
      Do it via the internet.

      Wanna make a friend?
      Do it via the internet.

      Fame and fortune,
      is found on the internet.

      Whatever you can think of,
      is found on the internet.

      Chorus

      Chat Room Boom
      Chat Room Boom

Don’t worry, everyone can see you.
With the satellites of the Google.

      Dance it, and record it,
      Upload it to the net.

Dance it, and get naked, (Oh, no)
And upload it to the net.

      Chorus

      Fame and fortune,
      is found on the internet.

      Whatever you can think of,
      is found on the internet.

If your equipment is not protected
It might have one of these viruses

Even if you don’t want to,
      Girls will come out
      That will offer you
      To do dirty things.

      If the PC gets stuck
      You need bandwidth
      To have a rematch

      Chorus

As an aside, the graffiti on the back wall reads: “Do it or die trying”.

  • skeletoncityrepeater

I love this song, but why is this called a band? It seems like a couple of producers.

    • devophill

Hey man, Run-DMC first proved a DJ could be a band.

I had no expectations of watching more than 30 seconds of this. And then it had finished and I wanted more…

“Ole!” is for Spain, “Andale!” is for Mexico.

The only word I can use to describe the above video is “glorious”.

  • dragonfrog

Having a degree in Comp Sci, I can confirm that this is pretty much how the Internet works (computer networks in general, really).

  • ChancellorGummybear

Isn’t this what we all do on the Internet?

  • humanresource

Nothing about tubes? I am disappoint.

  • ad_absurdum

I was going to comment about how strangely addicting the video is after I watched it for a long time. But then I realized it was only at 1:40 when I couldn’t take it anymore.

  • Robbo

I watched it – once – and the music and images are in my head – permanently. I was standing in line at the supermarket yesterday, waiting for my turn at the cash, and caught myself gently hopping from one foot to the other while humming the “tune”. Ahhh!

    Make it stop!

And is it just me or is the gal in the tin foil boots really hot?
