That one may be gone, but there is another similar theme park in Japan: The Gulliver Youth Vacation Village. It's maybe a half-hour from my wife's home in Shiga Prefecture, maybe about 2 hours drive north of Kyoto. Here is their official website (in Japanese only):
http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~gullivervillage/

And the location in latitude and longitude:
35° 16' 24.31", +135° 55' 35.19"

This would be the perfect place for a supervillain's secret lair.

Also, nice facial tattoo on Gulliver there.

One would think that with land so expensive in Japan, this park would be immediately repurposed. Perhaps it's a case of the Tragedy of the Anticommons?

@silkox, yes, there are many abandoned amusement parks in Japan. Most of them were built during the bubble heyday of the late 80's and early 90's, and not surprisingly many have not survived the years of depression afterward. Those that are closer to urban areas generally get torn down and turned into residential neighborhoods or shopping centers, etc., but many that are way out in the mountains just sit there, abandoned.

There are many urban explorers that like to check these places out, here's one:
http://www.brandknewme.com/?p=845

And this one is only a half hour from the Gulliver Village I mentioned above, but it's been torn down and the site is now a large shopping mall:

UER seems to have a bit of info on it... including the former location. There does seem to be a golf course close by but I can't seem to find anything interesting...

we've killed it - server is down (but with a decent redirect msg). Unfortunately the photographer does not have these photos viewable on his flickr account (because of the 200 photo limit) Worse yet he has no sets so I waded through 10 pages of photos just to find out I couldn't see these.

I likewise spent a long time getting to the server to see that the additional photo selection was sparse. I'd hoped to parse out enough on the location to see if Google Earth or one of the other satellite overlay sites might have the giant Gulliver visible.

Something the picture or text here doesn't get across is that Gulliver is HUGE, so that visitors are Lilputian in scale to him.
I drew a comic about ruins in general (and my mad love for G-Land in particular) in 2005.

Try these Coords on Google Earth. 35.415006,138.648072
Rotate the map so the North is 90 degrees to your left. Should be his chest with his legs to the left and arms and head to the right. Zoom out to see the shape better.
