Really, this guy should have been notified? Go read up on this guy. He is abusive, and a likely stalker. And he should be notified?!

Sure, it’s *ultimately* the woman’s choice…but there’s a lot that can or should happen before she gets to “ultimately”.

If the relationship is healthy, then of course that’s what we wish would happen. But that relationship was NOT healthy. Do you really think he would have reacted wonderfully to her saying, “Dear, I’m going to get an abortion!”

He reacted this way when he didn’t even know how the pregnancy ended (it was a miscarriage) — how do you think he would have reacted had she told him she was planning on getting an abortion?

He’s literally calling her a murderer. Regardless of whether she had a miscarriage or an abortion, she is not a murderer by legal standards (or by any other standards, in my opinion). Thus, he is libeling her, and should be prosecuted.

Exactly. In a perfect world, men and women would always discuss their feelings on children and what they would do if the woman got pregnant before they got naked together, but it’s not a perfect world. Men can’t get pregnant. They can’t give birth. It’s just not their decision.

That, and if we made some sort of law that required they always were part of the decision, assholes like this would force the woman to give birth to a child she doesn’t want to give birth to.

Apparently, this woman actually had a miscarriage, but even if she had an abortion, it appears that she had a lot of health problems that would have made carrying a child to term very dangerous, from what I’ve read.

This guy clearly has some sort of severe mental problem. Assholeism doesn’t really enter into it – no sane person would behave like that. I agree that it’s actually a good thing for society that he’s “flagging” himself in this fashion, wearing his broken personality on his sleeve, but we should be debating ways of making him seek professional help.

It’s more deciding if human life has inherit value, at what point it becomes valuable
A pragmatic approach:
Human life is only as valuable as its constituent parts. Hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. A born human is more valuable because personality becomes one of those parts. An unborn human is not much more than a parasite with potential to become something more. Potential that is driven by the continued operation of the mother’s body. Mum dies, so does baby. Giving birth is so called because it is the point at which you give life. Once something is given it cannot be taken back. Before it is given the giver can still choose whether to give or not.

It’s not very complicated.

Of course it was probably legal for him to do this; free speech and all. But that doesn’t mean it was OKAY or socially acceptable for him to do this. He should never be invited to a party or get laid again.
Shunning is a socially vital tool, to handle all the things that need to be legal but should never happen.

The guy is just saying that it’s right thing to do in MOST cases to let the ‘sperm donor’ know what is happening and that if his girlfriend aborted he’d shoot his mouth off. But that, and again this was two lines above what you quoted:
