Apply to live in the Museum of Science and Industry for a month

What are you doing between October 19 and November 17? If you're lucky, you could spend that month living in Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Last year, the Museum hosted a "science roommate" who lived among the exhibits 24-7 and got to do awesome things like spend a night sleeping in the U-Boat. This year, they're going to do it again. I think this is a great idea. Museums are wonderful places and imagine the knowledge you would gain after living in one for 30 days! And all the neat gadgets you get to play with! Oh my!

I’m sure if I was an entomologist I’d remember it more fondly.

According to the FAQ, applicants “need to be legally allowed to receive compensation for work in the United States.”

Doesn’t say anything about being a resident, and I know last year they had applicants from all over the world. I say give it a shot!

Wow! In the 70s and 80s, a University of Chicago professor had his psychology lab/clinic in an unused part of the museum. I did my undergrad research there. We could access the museum from the lab and sometimes wandered while waiting for experiments to finish. Outstanding exhibits. So–basically I’ve already done this–definitely worthwhile.
