Sorry to say that I am getting to be an old guy. I can still remember when the news was just that – Reporting on what was going on. It was more of a public service than a profit-making business. I realize that those days are gone forever. So don’t chastise me about that, I get it, it’s all about money.

Just allow me to state my opinion, which is, FUCK THAT SHIT.

Kids are still allowed to play on my lawn, as long as they are nice about it.

But Fox News is a very different thing, it really is just a propaganda arm of the Republican party. This manifests itself as near unanimous pro-GOP banter. But it also manifests itself as fear-mongering over gays and Muslims and illegal immigrants, which are really just hot-button issues used to angry up their loyal viewers, who are are so loyal that most of them will watch no other news program. So essentially it doesn’t serve Fox News’ business model to harm their credibility with the loyal viewers, many of whom see 9/11 as some kind of sacred event in America’s recent history (hence the focused hatred on the “ground zero mosque”)– it wouldn’t be wise to point out that Murdoch’s minions were preying on 9/11 victims. The “ten foot turban” is odd, and could be meaningless, but I can imagine them belittling Muslims around the water cooler at Fox; it’s probably just the general tone there.

What I find most perplexing isn’t that Fox news is avoiding the subject, but that they aren’t vigorously defending themselves, perhaps blaming George Soros and some vast liberal conspiracy for the whole thing.

It’s just The Times.
Always has been.
Except when it’s the Sunday Times.

If they’re trying to differentiate it from the New York Times they could try calling it, um, “The Times”.

We need a team of specialists from Princeton to figure this out, that is if they are not wrapped up in their study proving that being poor sucks.

I know we like to have confirm our biases about how much we think Fox News sucks here in BoingBoing land, but even the video poster doubts they said “turban” – but rather “Durban”. The Video poster says the below:
