That was a great interview – really nice gentle television. Debbie Harry comes off really sweet and present. Thanks for sharing

Ok, here’s a strange one for ya:

What do the host of this segment and former Argentine president Carlos Menem have in common?

  • Barkalaureate

Bleach blonde and cocaine thin. Rock.

  • Nicky G

    HOTTTTT

ZOMG! I was at that taping. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Bummer that I was on the side of the audience they didn’t show in this segment. Actually, considering how geeky I looked back then, maybe it’s all for the best…

Oh, and I wound up talking to Michael Young after the taping, and all I remember is being transfixed by how orange his TV makeup was.

How memories become fuzzy. This show was aired on Sunday mornings at either 10 or 11 am, not on Saturdays.
Clear as crystal, I remember The Little River Band playing on that show.
Not so clear, was it KAPT that had a segment called “Dear Alex & Annie”?

Dredging up these old memories, the image of Shields & Yarnell popped up in my mind just now.

Please boycott this video in respect of Bob McAllister, the only name that should be associated with “Kids are People, Too.” RIP Mr. McAllister, and bite me ABC.

I liked Kids Are People Too, but I sure loved Wonderama. There are only a few extant clips (that I know of) on YouTube.

Oh no, you won’t trick me again Videodrome! Death to the New Flesh!

Nice, but it’s no Joe Jackson on HOT HERO SANDWICH.

Ya know, the “Man From Mars radio hat” started Rapture playing in my head… Now this… It’s going to be stuck in my head all weekend. Some kind of conspiracy?

Out of respect for Debbie Harry, I think I’ll actually watch the video. Sorry. I love Blondie.

Patti Smith was on that show singing ‘You Light Up My Life’

Kids Are People Too seemed to be a show that had nothing to do with kids. I remember watching it as a 3 year old, I just watched for the theme song and because it had kids screaming in the audience. It was also on during those magical Saturday mornings when the TV was yours.

For a real shocker look up Patti Smiths performance on the show.

.. or Marlo and the Magic Movie Machine.

But I remember this show, intimately, and they had some surprisingly hip guests.
For some reason, I particularly remember a segment with Roger Hodgson.

KISS on the show to introduce Eric Carr:

“Hey who is your favorite member of KISS?”

    “Peter Cris”

I didn’t remember KAPT until I saw this clip, and now I know where my crush on Debbie Harry came from. Wow, that was a trip down memory lane!
