  The God that most people believe in is usually just a reflection of themselves (or how they see themselves).  Pat Robertson worships a God who is bitter and spiteful.  Most of the religious women that I’ve known believe that God is nurturing and forgiving – except for the ones who were not themselves nurturing and forgiving.  This pastor believes that God is lighthearted and brand-loyal.  I can imagine that if my grandfather were watching this he would say something like “what a jackass, God is very serious and doesn’t like joking around.”  My grandfather was a serious man, never known to joke around…

  That’s hilarious. I take the message as “life is good for you- be thankful”. Would my southern-baptist grandmother have approved of the context? No, but she would have kept any criticism to herself- because she was taught that in addition to humility and compassion and self-reliance, tolerance is a virtue.

   Mmmm…while I approve of the overall use of humor in prayer, it is sad that product placement can make its way into any sort of semi-religious, sacred invocation…..which I why I avoid it altogether!
