Etsy seller Steven Rodrig, AKA pcbcreations, sells beautiful, spiky sculptures made from circuit-boards, including these strappy sandals.

Data Sandals (via Neatorama)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The Snowden Principle

    Don’t say “sandals.” Say “flip-FLOPS.”

  • Ramone

    Ow.

Actually these are Annie Ross’s shoes from Superman III.

Thanks for the flashback to 1983, when my mom took my 8-year old self to see it in a double feature with Snow White. Nothing like a little forcible Borgification to help bring about a good night’s sleep.

      Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

These look like a hard wear.

Gives new meaning to thinking fast on your feet!

Just be sure to wipe your feet at the door. You don’t want to spreadsheet around the house!

Its not the journey which tires the soul, but the DRAM in your shoe.

I guess it’ll hit all the reflexology points on those charts you find in the offices of massage therapists.

Unfortunately, it’ll probably hit the secret spots they don’t show – the ones that should be marked “TURN OFF SPLEEN”, “REDUCE METABOLISM 70%”, “SPONTANEOUS EJECTION OF BONE MARROW.”

No, I’m not telling you where they are.

  • AirPillo

For me, 20% of the times I handle a PCB involve a blood sacrifice being claimed by the spiky leads underneath. They’re almost as bloodthirsty as the metal edges on the inside of a desktop PC case.

I’d probably find a way to injure myself just placing these on display.

Wow, I had almost forgotten about that.  Not actual blood, but they would tear up my skin pretty well.  I don’t remember growing callouses or maybe I subconsciously started holding the boards the right way, but my hands got better.

Are these the cruel shoes Steve Martin spoke about?
