My pal David Katznelson has a deep appreciation for the history of San Francisco. In fact, he's the founder of the San Francisco Appreciation Society! One iconic bit of SF culture that David appreciates is cartoonist Warren Goodrich's iconic "Little Man" illustration (image top), used since 1942 in the San Francisco Chronicle's movie reviews in lieu of rating stars. So when David had the chance to commission lowbrow art pioneer Anthony Ausgang to do an ink drawing, it occurred to him that the Little Man might be a fine subject for Ausgang's warped eye. Success, I'd say!
