Kit, a herd dog at Flying Diamond Ranch in Montana's Paradise Valley. After a long day working with Gelbvieh cattle on the summer grazing grounds, Kit is resting in the shade beneath her owner's truck. When not herding cows, Kit likes chewing burrs out of her fur, and terrorizing gophers.
I've been traveling through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and inside Yellowstone National Park, working on a PBS NewsHour story with the program's science correspondent Miles O'Brien and producer Jenny Marder. The resulting story airs later this month.
