Maybe "Interrupting Neural Activity" has many many other effects too? In the brain or any other part of the BCN. Like giving you one hell of a headache maybe?.. Or a twinge?..Or a burst fuse?...or making you need a battery change?... or making you swear?...er..the possibilities could be endless here!....:)

Robots make you sing folk songs? Like what?

Ro, ro, ro the bot,
Gently drown in C,
Merrily merrily merrily merrily,
"Life" is but a string.

I wonder if this might call into question some of the experimental results from MRIs. When subjects are asked to think of something or perform a task while undergoing an MRI in order to induce activity in a part of the brain, what happens when they are prone to deception due to the big honking magnets? Is this effect something that acts only on speech? Does the effect change the perception of the subject, or the intention-- do they feel that they are telling the truth either way?

Definitely something that would be interesting to follow up

Now when are the DoD contractors going to start working on a weaponized version that can render a person incapacitated (stunned, dizzy, temporary blindness, the list goes on)?

Not a lie if you are given permission. A truer analysis would be that if you are given the choice to be correct or not and someone disrupts your brain process you will be slightly more likely to take the easier route and just guess than try to figure out what is going on.

The results become decidedly less weird when you change the headline to "Interrupting neural activity in the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex reduces participants' tendencies to lie." Of course, that then makes the headline decidedly less catchy.

There are several other groups working with transcranial magnetic stimulation, and some jaw-dropping results in seemingly enhancing certain task potentials by temporarily shutting down other parts of the brain.

On the other hand, I have to assume there are other experiments in these technologies and others, that we'll never know about. Some dark things have to have been going on in the oubliettes that contractors created in those hearts of darkness. Once they cross the line on waterboarding, why would they balk at more promising, and seemingly less traumatic, ways to shut down resistance to interrogation? Of course, the subjects can never surface again.
