Thom Buchanan says: "If you're a fan of Frank Frazetta, and I know a couple of you are, The Pictorial Arts Journal has just published its latest on-line issue that just might interest you."

  1. Kind of a pity that Disney is the studio backing the feature-film adaptation of the “John Carter of Mars” series. Something tells me the studio won’t allow costumes as… accurate to Burrough’s vision of a nudist planet as Frazetta’s illustrations were.

Of course, the only ones who do seem willing to make films where the entire starring cast spends most of their time naked tend to be either porn studios or National Geographic-style documentary makers.

    1. Maybe one day we will see an accurate portrayal of Frazzetta’s vision. Not porn satire, but a film maker with some guts.(and actors). Please Robert Rodriquez, stay away from Fire and Ice.

      1. I really think the first Conan movie was as close as anyone has gotten, visually.  Too bad the sequel was so goofy.

The documentary “Painting With Fire” is worth seeing for his life story and his inspiration and style in his own words.  His clear adoration for his wife is touching as well, though his son comes off less flatteringly.

  2. I grew up with Frazetta’s art and absolutely adore his illustration style. I’ve been eager to see if any of Frazetta’s work bleed through to the John Carter of Mars movie (even if it’s Disney making it).
