As a non-American this is going over my head completely. That said UK cereal mascots are almost universally “furries” so actually an assortment of supernatural monstrosities are actually more child friendly.

gotta love that Fruit Brute’s hangin’ out.
at some point between ’74 and ’76 i had a fruit brute lightswitch plate sticker that glowed in the dark. vivid memory… moms would come in the room, turn out the light, and spell my name in the air with her cigarette. then i’d watch the glowing sticker til i fell asleep. kids aged 5 were so easily entertained back then.
