Tom Deininger is an assemblage artist who arranges bewilderingly large collections of odd plastic tchotchkes into gorgeous pieces, including this Monet-like masterpiece.

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

I’ve often wondered where all that crap from Wal-Mart ends up. Mystery solved!

    *Sees all the plastic wieners*

Ahh… I see what you did there, Tom.

Aw, man.  I hadn’t noticed that.  Why’d he have to go and do that?  I’m no prude, but it was such a cool idea on its own to make the art out of toys.  This just sorta spoils it for me.

why did he have to do any of it? Not for you, sir. Not for you. Not for me neither.

I would pay a lot of money to have this as a jigsaw puzzle.

Should I be impressed with the artistry or galled by the showcase of bright and colorful garbage?

    Both!
