Obama: all US combat troops to leave Iraq by end of 2011

As I type, U.S. president Barack Obama is addressing the nation on live television. "After nine years, America's war in Iraq will be over. (…) Our troops in Iraq will definitely be home for the holidays. After a decade of war, the nation that we need to build, the nation that we will build, is our own." But CIA and the thousands of private military contractors (in a word, mercenaries) aren't going home. And our war in Afghanistan is still on, and our assassination drones are still flying high. Also, the speech references combat troops. What about other military personnel, non-combat troops? What presence will we continue to have, and at what cost?
