Here's a beautiful gallery of vintage Hallowe'en postcards from the New York Public Library Picture Collection on Flickr.

Haunted Postcards (via How to Be a Retronaut)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

From now on, all my pumpkins are going to have badass sideburns.

I keep seeing Halloween cards at Walgreens, which makes me wonder: who sends Halloween cards?! I’ve never gotten one.

Until now, I assumed Hallmark must have invented this recently, but it looks like not so much.

There have been cards available for Halloween for as long as I can remember, but there do seem to be more than there used to be.   I’ve given a few Halloween cards, but they generally accompanied gifts (often of creepy/gross foods… yes, I’m one of those people who makes things like severed finger treats).
