Hackers prepare for first "national holiday" in their honor

Being the type of person who names one of his kittens Yuri because he was born on April 12, I gotta say these figurines are absolutely charming.  The one on the left!  It’s a smiley orbital flight!

Man, that says something.  Soviet cosmonauts were permitted to be portrayed in such a sweet, cuddly (if saccharine) fashion.  I find it hard to envision any American space program kitsch approaching this on the Precious Moments scale.  Doesn’t fit into the American legend.  Yuri naps on his crescent moon, tucked into a fetal position.  Whereas Tom Sawyer blows off school and goes fishin’ off our moon.
