Etibar Elchyev, 39, of the country of Georgia, had planned to break a Guinness record for balancing 27 spoons on his face. Instead, he surprised everyone by balancing 50 spoons on his body. It's not clear whether he claims to be actually magnetic or if the media (myself included) just prefers to that word because it's more exciting than saying he's especially sticky. "'Magnetic' Georgian man sticks 50 spoons to his body" (The Telegraph)

What? Really? There’s nothing remotely magnetic about this. He’s just balancing stuff on himself.

    It’s total bullcrap.

  • Wowbagger_Infinitley_Prolonged

I’ll be impressed when it works with his shirt ON.

    • Marktech

I’ll be impressed when it works with his shirt ON.

I must be one hell of a narrow-minded skeptical killjoy, because I just knew he wouldn’t have his shirt on before I even watched the video.  James Randi used to de-magnetise these people using talc.

He could definitely call himself Adhesive Man, and he’d get no argument from me.  Particularly since he used to be a kickboxer.

  • nosehat

I was hoping he would use his super powers for something other than breaking Guinness world records.

I dunno, the only other magnet man I can think of, Magneto,  didn’t turn out so well….

  • Jim Smart

can he move the needle in a compass? erm, no, i don’t think so – can’t we just call him ‘sticky man’ and be done with it?

    Yay!  Science!

Can one of you please show me where the man himself claims to actually be magnetic?

Finally, a video that acknowledges that what other people call magnetism, science calls sticky skin excretions. Regardless of whether or not he is actually magnetic, I still think it’s pretty remarkable that he can stick all that stuff on him.

  • Shibi_SF

Ew.  I can’t stop thinking about how sweaty he must be.  Sweaty and sticky!

  • oliver schmieding

douche man would pwn him  :P

  • Ian Whitehouse

Anyone noticed how all the people claiming to be magnetic are also overweight. All I can think when watching this is, “this guy needs a shower”

Miraculously, all of these self-styled ‘magnetic’ people, are able to perform their feats with aluminium spoons, fry pans etc.
