The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

Oh holy crap! That is hilarious, I didn’t see that coming at all.

    Definitely watch the whole thing.

    • http://www.zachstronaut.com/ zachstronaut

I feel 100% better now. Previously I had stopped watching feeling bad for the frog. Thanks Jim. =)

  • Marktech

Part of me wants that sort of thing to happen at the end of every animal video.

  • zebbart

Did it hurt or was he just surprised?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OAUXAA362EXWLYVMPJOKLFB5JQ Incipient Madness

Probably more surprised than hurt. Of course, I’ve been bit so many times by rodents and birds that reptiles and amphibians don’t scare me much.

Hardest biting reptile for its size I’ve ever handled is a tokay gecko. I want to see a tokay play ant smasher. Here’s a dramatic scene where one tokay rescues his friend:

Not to pick nits, but I believe that’s a toad.

A tiger salamander once did that to me, scared the shit right out of me.

    • petz79

It’s an african bull frog. They have something like teeth. I think it feels nastier than it looks.

  • Nadreck

Toad-boy wins the game and the meta-game!  Rare is the intellect that can see beyond the daily grind to the shadowy figures controlling its illusions!

  • lknope

The ants were merely an amuse-bouche for the upcoming entree…HUMAN FINGER!!!

  • Chuck

There will be no amphibious overlords, because they won’t bother ruling over us.

    ahahahaha

  • esquire

So the frog is a metaphor for SOPA, biting the finger of copyright-infringing youtube uploaders?

  • Snig

The quotation refers specifically to their distant reptilian cousins, but applies to both reptiles and amphibians.  Truly it is said “Do not meddle in the affairs of lizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger”

    • Antinous / Moderator

      Fuck subtle.

  • aynrandspenismighty

    All glory to the hypno-toad.

And the moral of this story is? Don’t f**k with the frog.

  • Lis Mitchell

My dad’s Argentine Horned Frog (AKA the Pacman Frog) used to eat live baby mice, among other  things, so I knew something like that was bound to happen. Do not tease your Argentine Horned Frog, they can get pretty big. (And they sometimes will try to eat things that will choke them so putting them next to the iPhone might actually be pretty stupid.)

  • Lis Mitchell

(The creature in question does seem to have different markings than an Argentine Horned Frog. But there might be subspecies with markings different than the ones my father had which had the distinct red markings over the eyes.)

No one puts froggie in the corner

Moral:  Don’t torture your pet into cute.

  • B A

I wonder if this is Terry’s frog, Hopkin. Apparently he’s lost one.

Can’t get Blaster Master out of my mind.

  • CountZero

He’s lucky the frog was only that size.
It could have been his head…
