Rachel Hobson of CRAFT correctly figures (in my case, anyway), " you'll enjoy this series of vintage photographs that have been transformed into portraits of superheroes by artist Alex Gross."

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

These look great – Alex Ross did an excellent job.

  • jhoosier

I wish there was some way to see the originals.  Am I looking in the wrong place?

  • Ian Anthony

inb4: “YOU’RE USING REAL PICTURES THOSE ARE PIECES OF HISTORY OMG.”

    • Antinous / Moderator

      Barely inb4.

      • Ian Anthony

I really do love the BB readership, else I’d ignore the comments page, but man they can be predictable.

  • Atrum

Commenters over at io9 couldn’t figure out whether or not this guy painted over the originals.  While this is a neat project, if he did paint over the originals, it’s kind of a shame.

  • WaylonWillie

Neat! I also like it better here, where you can see the originals.

No, no, Claflin is clearly a red shirt.

    • Acta Fabula

      actually Claflin is a photographer

Since when is Data a superhero?

    • Antinous / Moderator

Does that make Anecdotes a supervillain?

      • retepslluerb

No, but Anecdote would be a perfect sidekick for Data. He  should totally name his next cat Anectode.

      Since when is Aquaman?

      • retepslluerb

Since March 1960, when he was one of the founding members of the the JLA  in Brave and The Bold #28.

  • BarBarSeven

Someone from Star Trek is a superhero??!

    Love Gross’s paintings, but $149 for a 21″ print? C’mon, man!
