I think a more complicated hack might be required to add directions other than up and down.

Now a days they don’t even investigate unknown devices they just blow it up. Oh fun! Last year the local bomb squad here detonated two “suspicious packages” One was clothes left for the homeless and I can’t recall the others contents.
