Tibetans have been quietly starving and dying under Chinese rule for years.  No one cared about that “bad PR” because they kept it quiet.  This seems to be getting the Chinese Government’s attention.  How horrifying that this is what it takes and how despicable it is that their response it to attempt to silence them rather than to listen.  The Tibetans are, after all, their people since they invaded.

Tibet is of military interest.  It is a strategic location.  Tibet is spotted with ghost hotels that the Chinese have built but no one visits.  Not even the Chinese.  Except for remote parts of Tibet, Tibetan culture is probably more alive in parts of India. Remember, Chinese transplants have been living in Tibet since the revolution & they believe they are Tibetan too. So, you have indigenous Tibetans deprived of their rights and speaking Chinese and Chinese claiming they are Tibetan because they grew up there.  The Tibetans and Chinese there don't know what's going on outside of the country and more than we really know what's going on inside the country except through trusted channels and friends who have recently visited. Real Estate? Exponentially sprawling? I'm sure the Chinese development of real estate and business is exponentially sprawling. Bottom line, this fucking sucks. I've listened to enough Robert Thurman podcasts and lectures to have a deep affection and affinity for Tibetan culture and mysticism. China seems hellbent on eliminating it entirely.
