"Cronache dal Mondo" (Chronicles of the World) is an Italian library music LP with a trippy, late-1960s avant-garde electronica vibe. Plus, dig that cover collage reminiscent of a social studies textbook from the time. For those not yet hip to library music, it's basically "stock music" that can be licensed for use in TV shows, movies, advertisements, etc. Often, broadcasters would purchase libraries of records such as these for use in their productions.

    What is library music?

  • David Pescovitz

Ah, sorry! Library music, aka “production music,” is “recorded music produced and owned by production music libraries and licensed to customers for use in film, television, radio and other media.” (Wikipedia)

I just happened to watch the camera-mounted-to-a-drill video while listening to this. And now I see rainbow trails when I move my hands.

Aww.. I was really hoping this was music that could be played in a library. I’m finishing up my library science degree (hopefully will eventually work in a library) and I would love to see what sort of effect stuff like this would have on the yearly visitor count.

Sounds like a PhD topic to me!

If anyone is interested, the noble-looking Bedouin chap at upper right is Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, late ruler of the United Arab Emirates.  I lived in Abu Dhabi for a year and his image is permanently burned into my brain.

I was coming here to say the same thing, for the same reason, except that I’m still here. He’s everywhere, along with various of his progeny.  Big Sheikh is watching you…
