Ted Cassidy and friends do The Lurch on the TV variety show Shivaree, October 30, 1965. (Thanks, Gil Kaufman!)
Urrrrr….. I think I saw that, actually…
The show was “Shivaree”: http://boingboing.net/2009/04/17/ted-lurch-cassidy-pe.html
Thanks. Also, good memory!
Ah! That’s where I saw this before. Heh.
They _did_ state the show’s name in the first few seconds of the clip…
Better then Leonord Nimoy’s Bilgo Baggins video, also 1960’s
This makes me so uncomfortable.
He wasn’t too thrilled with it either, I’d imagine. He was a busy actor, but he hated his career because he never got to play anything but caricatures.
Shivaree means something very different to me…. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/shivaree
Lurch “anytime” Oh man I was 15. My caramia.
(mute the second video)
Today he’d be a singer in a death metal band.
He also had a brief singing career. Here he covers the Beach Boys covering the Crystals’ “There’s No Other Like My Baby”
He’ll always be Ruk to me.

The Lurch? So weird, yet so, so straight.
Lurch was a pretty good dancer.
