I can appreciate Boing Boing try to generate some revenue off your viewership but is this really the way it should be done? These half-astroturf articles generated as advertising for partners leaves a rather unpleasant taste in my mouth. The Chevy Volt advertising, even if clearly labeled as so, tastes straight of vomit, especially because the Volt is the wrong solution to the right problem. Bonus points for figuring out to block comments on the advertising BEFORE everyone starts moaning and bitching in the comments on the ad, but don’t you think there’s a reason that people would moan and bitch?

Throw in cheap plastic garbage available for purchase from the BB store and you have actually become the environmentally problematic business people you don’t care for. Personally I’m trying to figure out if BB jumped the shark or is heading high speed at it.

Oh please. On the front page right now I count 40 posts, of which two — two — are ads, and both a clearly marked as such.

BoingBoing is only so good because the editors are able to work full time on it. Do you think you could pay for all of them to be working full-time from the couple of tchotchke sales a week from the BoingBoing store?

I finally had to turn AdBlock on for BB, after having left it off for BB for so long, because all the stuff being downloaded slowed my browser to a crawl. I expect a lot of people have AdBlock turned on. With all of us jerks around, I’m glad BB found another way to put revenue-generating ads on their site.

Can you name a single site that is great, has plenty of original content, is updated many times a day, and contains no ads? Stop expecting the world for free.

I don’t understand the write-up for this watch at all. “The case frames no physical dial but instead supports a lone single bridge of gears spanning the void across the wrist presenting the hours and minutes into what might be considered an analog hourglass.”

But I see a physical dial right there, framed by the case.

There is no actual dial on the watch, it’s open air.
