I'm incredibly chuffed to learn that the Japanese edition of Little Brother is up for this year's Seiun award, along with Bacigalupi's Windup Girl, Mieville's The City & the City, Wilson's Chronoliths, Delany's Dhalgren and Ballad's Millennium People.

Cory, enlighten me here.  For some reason I always thought that “chuffed” meant irritated or  ticked off.  Huh.
Anyway, congrats.  Little Brother was one of my favorite books of the last few years.  :D

Sorry to hear you’re chuffed, but maybe this award will speed your recovery?

Dhalgren????? Isn’t that book something like 30 years old? Just published in Japan?

I tried reading it many times and honestly couldn’t stand it.   I really liked Little Brother, Windup Girl and The City and the City, so my taste can’t be THAT far off.

Good luck. It looks like you have some stiff competition, but that just means you’re in good company.

Very cool and well deserved!  Congrats, fingers crossed!  Aside:  I love that “chuffed” is being discussed.
