201205080923 George Brannon of Mesquite, Texas has posted a warning to would-be thieves contemplating taking another one of his pieces of "right wing yard art," which include an upside-down US flag with boot marks and Obama's crossed-out face replacing the field of stars.

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

  • Suburbancowboy

    Stern Fan?

    • TheOmbudsman

That was my first thought as well. I kinda doubt it, as based on this guy’s politics, he probably hates Stern as well, on multiple levels.

  • Henry Pootel

    I have stolen
    the art
    that was in
    your yard

    and which
    you were probably
    saving
    for the elections

    Forgive me
    it was annoying
    so crass
    and so cold

  • Drabula

All ‘artists’ know that the next best thing to selling work is to have it stolen – even if it is right wing vulgar shit.

    • SomeGuyNamedMark

Not sure if having your “art” tossed in the trash is flattery.

    • fuzzyfuzzyfungus

In fairness, as much as I am not getting a warm and fuzzy impression of this guy’s character or taste, he does have the right to not have his stuff stolen from his front yard.

  • snagglepuss

The proper response, of course, is to create the mirror image of his stolen “artwork”, and put it up right next door. The flag, upside down, with boot prints all over it and the redneck neighbor’s crossed-out face in the field of stars.

    • teapot

I thought the proper response is to screencap the guy’s house on Google Maps so his art can be seen in the flesh. Looks to me like the fine sharpie work on those panels of pine is something you’d only be able to truly appreciate up close.

Rule #1 of drawing attention to your idiotic opinions: Don’t do an interview in front of your house.

Those garage doors sure would look good rainbow-painted.

While I don’t want to get anyone shot, I’d seriously pay someone to make that happen… Any takers?

  • lknope

Is it wrong to be impressed that there is only one misspelled word on that sign?

    • fuzzyfuzzyfungus

      Moranic, possibly; but not wrong.

    • Finnagain

I was impressed with that too.

    • jaysonelliot

Okay, I give up. Which is the misspelled word?

      • http://twitter.com/fossilfuels Funk Daddy

LOL, sometimes i & e trip people up in reverse, no misspellings.

      • Ultan

Wong Foo might get upset at seeing his name spelled that way, though the pig vomit thing might be more of a concern.

  • http://www.gyrofrog.com/ Gyrofrog

I blame the closure of Big Town Mall  for things heading south in Mesquite.

  • SomeGuyNamedMark

Don’t steal but don’t go out of your way to antagonize your neighbors either.

    • http://www.nathanhornby.com/ Nathan Hornby

      Both good lessons.

It’s hard to be on anyone’s side in this story.

Don’t talk like that about pigs. They’re usually much nicer than people.

  • wysinwyg

Aww, let him keep the sign.  I think it’s good for idiots to advertise themselves.

     Fatties United Pig Vomit

    Yea, that’s art.  Is it?
Flag desecration is now acceptable on the right fringe.

I support his right to be an asshat.
    Frowningly.

  • SofaKing

if there wasn’t a ‘Tea party’ stereotype before… there is now.

  • tylerkaraszewski

I like that the biggest focal point of the story is that the sign says “FU” on it.

    • acidrain69

You’ve never heard of Fox News? The 2nd word is a lie.

      • jetfx

The first one is too. You won’t find much news for foxes on there.

Good to hear of good people in or near Mesquite willing to steal this man’s lawn art. Stealing bad, but since the advent of lawns and shit in lawns, stealing from lawns has been less bad from a “duh, you left it out on the lawn” perspective.

When I was 18ish I knew several groups of college-aged folk, mostly male, who had furnished their entire homes using stuff stolen from lawns. Smoked a J in a cheap apartment sitting in a lawn chair at a lawn table complete with umbrella, propping my feet up on a stolen (with great effort) concrete lion statue, which went well with the over all lawn gnome motif throughout.

This guy could choose to live somewhere his lawn art would be appreciated and respected, say, Vidor, TX?

  • Cowicide

    right wing yard art
I will name my next song that.

  • teapot

Nothing screams ‘crackpot’ like mixing shouty-caps with randomly placed lowercase letters.

I support this man’s right to stfu and die… I’ve been told that in TX that’s about the best thing there is to do.

  • AlexG55

Get pig. Feed pig emetic. Release pig in yard.

He said he wanted “pig vomit”, right?
