Stephan Balleux strange photo/CGI-influenced paintings

To create his unsettling, phantasmagoric paintings, Belgian artist Stephan Balleux allows inspiration from ghostly black and white photography and 3D computer graphics to seep from his canvases but in wholly unnatural and strange ways. I"n a reversed perspective, I apply to painting other media’s components," he says, "borrowing, for instance, from photography its quality of focus, blur and texture. I also borrow from computer imagery a precise mastering of the whole image." Balleux calls the result "expanded painting." Stephan Balleux: Sui generis
