The news that a group of anonymous hackers claimed to have stolen some of the NSA’s most secret, valuable weaponized vulnerabilities and were auctioning them off for bitcoin triggered an epic tweetstorm from Edward Snowden, who sets out his hypothesis for how the exploits were captured and what relation that has to the revelations he […]
Since March, the unnamed genius behind Paperback Paradise has been remixing the often dreadful covers of vintage paperback novels, refining their base material into golden lewd, hilarious new work. (via Richard Kadrey)
Charlie Warzel of Buzzfeed has written a long piece about Twitter’s apparently inability to prevent neo-Nazis, rape apologists, death threats, and racism from flourishing on the platform. And now I have a reason to use twitter.
Actually, I love food posts. Especially if it’s about healthy good food. I must be the only one.
Most of these fall into the category of “Everyone doesn’t use this service in a way that matches my notions of what it’s for, so they are wrong and annoying.” Never mind that twitter’s original use case was for several of the types of posts being complained about.
I hate this kind of thing. Either use Twitter, or don’t. Use it how you like, but don’t expect people to use it how you do. And don’t you F*CKING DARE to tell me how to use it, you Buzzfeed Contributor (and I mean that as an insult)
Some of these things are legitimately annoying, but at least 2/3 are things that I actually enjoy about twitter. The key of course is to use judgment and only do those things sparingly, when it’s actually amusing or interesting.
It helps if you don’t follow people who don’t use twitter the way you like it to be used, too. That’s the great thing about it, you can totally tailor twitter to your own enjoyment.
