I still refuse to sell my unused type cases to anyone I suspect will turn them into trite tchotchke (sp.) displays. Still I wish I could see more of the legs of the table even at the cost of the cleavage. Grannies have been hording type cases for years to store thimble and miniature spoon collections, so I guess the fact that it’s a table is what makes this interesting. Meh, to Star Wars plastic, but that’s just a matter of taste.

This issue is cultural. Not only did “millennials” grow up as digital natives, and smothered by the pop culture of previous generations (Star Wars, Mario Bros,etc ), they also grew up in a culture of omnipresent pornography, so for them overt sexuality is the norm.

I’m all about making things. And salvage. And selling what you make. But you’re right, those brackets are hideous! I also noticed the poor fit between the wood cases and the steel base, which really detract from the whole. I understand that the artist was using preexisting parts that weren’t the same size as each other, but sometimes you just have to pick one or the other. Put some real table legs on those cases, OR make a box that fits the steel pallet. With a little fabrication, the wooden part could be turned into a really nice piece, and the steel part could be turned into a DIFFERENT really nice piece.

It all came together when I got to the part in the description that explained The wood was left unfinished and the steel was left unfinished, and everything is held together with bailing wire.

It almost sounds like bare minimum effort, but more likely it’s maximum effort for someone with bare minimum ability or resources.
