Mike sez, "Photographed a wedding reception in upstate NY this weekend -- the cake was awesome! The couple are both geeks and have three geeky teenaged daughters who helped design it.... Take a look at the cell phone video!"

(Thanks, Mike!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

    Very cool looking.

It’s sort of hat-shaped.  Is that good?

    • mccrum

      Is it bad?

    • princessalex

Actually, it’s just tiered, like most wedding cakes, with each layer smaller than the one under it.  The texture and details ON the cake are what make it geeky.

I’m just referring to what hats  represent in XKCD, particularly when stacked :)

It is, though, a lovely and wonderfully geeky cake.

Even cooler: When you poke it with a knife, a little sign with a witty comment pops out!

    • twency

I thought that was what happens when you hover the knife over the cake without cutting it.
