If you want to visit us here in Boring, let you beware and let it be known:
> The Boring Tavern closed a while back (odd, with a catchy name like that…)
> There’s the Boring Farmer’s Market every Caturday with organic produce and handmade doodads for sale.
> We just got rid of paying $600k in taxes yearly for a regional government’s bus to come through town twice a day, so rent a car or a bike.
> We are the birthplace of the SlingShot, the smartphone video stabilizer (http://woxom.net) that I designed while sitting right here at this very desk where I am right now.
> The Springwater Trail runs through Boring, which is a series of old railroad beds turned into walking/biking trails that’ll take you all the way into Portland, 20 miles away.
All in all, Boring is a nice little place to live.

Dull – thought to have derived its name from the Pictish word for fields – has a mere 84 residents, Boring – named after William H Boring, an early resident of the area – has a population of more than 10,000, scuppering chances of the two being officially twinned.

If I didn’t want to visit both Dull and Boring already they’ve become even more interesting to me both because of the mention of the Picts and the use of the word “scuppering”. “Scupper”, like “flummox” and “xenial”, is one of those words that just doesn’t get used often enough.
