Had to go check out the X-Ray Vision thingy... Whaaaaat??? I was thinking it was going to be something like a kitschy like the comic book ads for X-Ray glasses. Um... seriously dudes??? What kind of customers are you looking for?

I doubt they are a real agency. I guess soon some guys will turn up, claiming it was an "art" project.

The recent trend of oddly-shaped cards (large squares and the like) fails for similar reasons; every time someone gives me a card that doesn't fit in the standard credit-card-sized pocket in my wallet is immediately lost or thrown away.

And one more design problem that shows they weren't ready for the big time. On the initial home page, the phone booth has an interior blue wall and a yellow telephone. Click to go "inside" of the phone booth, and it's glass windows on all sides and a black telephone. And where'd that trash can come from?

I just wanna see one for Dr. John Smith that expands into a TARDIS. (John Smith being the name the Doctor uses when forced to by stupid apes.)

And there wouldn't be any typos on it, either. He'd have gone back in time and fixed them.

A typo, absolutely. Being in the business myself, I'd say it's very poor work.

While typos on other people's materials can be blamed on designers and agencies, when it's you who designs it, it's a huge liability to hand one of these out. Maybe the card was a comp, and not mass-printed yet. But proofreading comes with the territory, even on comps when you're shooting promotional photos of them.

My other problem with this is the website. If you even bother to find the hidden links, there's no actual work there. Just a video about an "X-Ray Vision" sticker to promote the agency, which immediately becomes a way to see women in their underwear. High concept stuff, obviously. Way to alienate 50% of the market. Sheesh.

I wish them well, but I'm not thinking this is such a super agency. Real creative digs deeper.

For a year or two, I carried personal contact cards that included instructions for folding it into an origami hopping frog, complete with fold lines and such. Strangely enough, a business card designed to be folded into a small jumping animal tended to get lost. Then there was the one that made the blog rounds a bit back (first Google link I found: http://zactopia.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/but-can-your-business-card-fly/ ) for Norburn Model Aircraft. It was printed on balsa, and was intended to be turned into a tiny model plane. I've often wondered if anyone ever had that card around when they needed the number. Likely not. These kinds of things are nifty, but anything that delays or prevents the transition from pocket to Rolodex (or equivalent) is ultimately a failure for the intended purpose.

Their website has it right, but the card doesn't. I'd say misprint, but surely an ad agency would go through a vigorous proofing process for anything they'd get printed, right?

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

"Headquarter" is a transitive verb, meaning "to place one's headquarters". Nothing wrecks a good campaign like bad grammar.
