Deeply creepy test footage from Alien (1979) of alien actor Bolaji Badejo slithering around The Nostromo in a prototype costume head. Posts one YouTube commenter: "movie about a tall skinny black serial killer in space that wears an oblong black mask would be awesome"

A tall, skinny, black serial killer in space: does that seem right to you?

  • Hanglyman

Featuring music from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, for some reason. I kept expecting Raziel to impale the alien on a spike and devour its glowing green orb.

    • Francis H

I thought that too. That music is burned into my brain. I kept expecting to hear other sounds from the spectral realm.

It really looks like a canoe up close. The serial killer film should be entitled “Portage”

Well, The Frantics already made “Mr. Canoehead”, the crime-fighting canoe-headed man (and his brother Ted).

To me this is actually kind of charming, except I can’t stop asking myself, “How could anyone be that skinny?!?”

When I was a kid, I BEGGED to get the “Alien” action figure for Christmas. It was like 13″ tall, and had a glow in the dark head. My mom finally gave in, even though it was probably expensive, and was the ugliest thing she’d ever seen. It gave me nightmares. I couldn’t sleep with it on the shelf across the room, and I soon BEGGED her to take it away… Good times.

    • mccrum

Given how much it’s likely worth now she’d probably be sitting pretty well off if she’d have boxed it away at the first opportunity and unearthed it recently, free from being thrown off the roof like many an original Millineum Falcon.

Don’t get me started about the vast collection of Star Wars toys, which had been stored in the attic. They were sold off at a garage sale when I was out of town, presumably for pennies. It’s not retirement money, to be sure, but I’ve seen individual figures selling for $6-10.

Note to self:  do not watch this while on acid.

in the special edition the Alien takes his mask off and they replace him with a white guy.

  • martinhekker

I’d like to see the minimouth have a whack at some of the posters here. Fascinating footage. The “wandering limb” effect was something that was captivating in the movie and makes a strong impression. Am reminded that many times a work of art is loved for different reasons: and sometimes the reasons are things we are not entirely aware of.

Now we have a hint of what a David Lynch version of Alien would have been like.
