Gary Demuth, writing for the Salina Journal: "Brooke Wallace knew her dress for this year's spring prom would be water-resistant. That's because it was made entirely of duct tape."

The lede here on Boing Boing kind of undersells this particular duct tape dress.  For those of you yawning over the announcement of clothes! made of duct tape! in 2012!, this is actually some pretty impressive work, and worth clicking through.

Here are the outfits in a color photo.  Very impressive!  http://www.kwch.com/news/kwch-news-kah-duct-tape-prom-dress-could-help–001,0,4608445.photo

I do not envy her date. Wearing duct tape pants in the late spring or summer is just asking for a sweatfest. I gave mine away after a single outing in them years ago.

impressive yes.  classy, no.  not because its duct tape, but because they chose to make vegas cocktail waiter/waitress clothes.  nice work though.

At least there isn’t the usual argument over whether it’s duct tape or duck tape.  That would have been a fowl development…

Duck Tape has been running a contest for duck tape prom outfits for years! http://duckbrand.com/Promotions/stuck-at-prom.aspx The entries are pretty amazing.

I was in a production of The Wiz in high school and the guy who played the Tin Man borrowed a duct tape suit that another student had made previously to wear to prom. It worked really well until one particularly grueling dress rehearsal when he sweat so much that it somehow caused the pants to shrink before the next night’s performance and when he tried to put them on they completely ripped up the back. I’m still not entirely sure how the shrinking happened.
