Yes, it's here!

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

I don’t know…working for GE seems totally anti-slack to me.

    • SomeGuyNamedMark

       Bob is all about infiltration

    • pjcamp

But how about installing four light bulbs at the same time? Too slack to go up the ladder more than once maybe?

    no pipe, no bob

Obviously, this was Bob BS (Before Slack).

Few things sound better than a burned-out fluorescent lamp sailing into a wall.

Just ask Vault Boy and his many picket signs!

    • noah django

      キタ━━━(゚∀゚)━━━!!
      best part!

also, my roommate is a Gutierrez.  you kin to anyone in Atlanta?

  • malindrome

Is that a florescent lamp in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

“When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.”
“Only a master of incandescent bulbs, Darth.”

The lighting is so specific on that guy it looks like he was drawn from a professionally lit and photographed model. I wonder what makes them choose to go on to an illustration instead of using the photo.

    • blearghhh

Only a guess, but perhaps in the days before any kind of advanced compositing tools, it would be easier to just draw the whole thing from scratch than try to stitch together a bunch of different photos?

That’s not Bob. No Pipe. No slack. No know.

    GE Mazda?

    • malindrome

      They’re a subsidiary of Weyland-Yutani Corp.

  • protoman

“Bob” would appreciate the free advertising but his stalwart manliness and yeti vissage is sorely missing in this slackless pink lackey shilling for the conspiracy.

  • kartwaffles

G-E Mazda “F” lamps, from Vault-Tec Industries. Install them in your bunker today!

  • Thad

His left hand looks female, and his right hand … can anyone get that many fluorescent tubes between thumb and forefinger?

Is this an early inspiration for photoshop disasters?

  • David Fiander

“Mazda was a trademarked name registered by General Electric in 1909 for incandescent light bulbs. The name was used from 1909 through 1945 in the United States by General Electric andWestinghouse. Mazda brand light bulbs were made for decades after 1945 outside the USA. The company chose the name due to its association with Ahura Mazda, the transcendental and universal God of Zoroastrianism whose name means “[Wise] Lord ” in the Avestan language.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_(light_bulb)

Does it say where I can get an “It’s cool, pleasing” placard like the little fellow is toting? That could prove useful.

  • kiptw

“Bob”? Hardly. It’s the Evil Walt Disney. You can tell by the mustache.

The word “amazingly” needs to be used in advertising more.
