Les Milton brags on his mom Judy Mascolo who makes fantastic "Nerd Glass." He writes, "She started doing stained glass, a common hobby amongst the adorably active elderly, and then she started making nerdier pieces for my brother (who designs video games) and my son." Nerd Glass

Does Grandma take custom orders, because her work rocks! The link doesn’t work for me on some of the crucial information.

“I also take special orders.  If you have something you would like to see translated into glass, send me a photo and I will do my best to bring your idea to life.  View examples of special orders I have completed and take a look at what can be done.” from the site

Sorry the link did not work. Please try again. I do take custom orders. Those are the most fun. nerdglass

I love these. She recreates characters so faithfully yet with her own flair. I would consider ordering a Pikachu for my husband.

    • nerdglass

I would love to make you a Pikachu.

“Adorably active elderly?” Please tell me the guy didn’t mean to seem so condescending there.

The stained glass work is absolutely fantastic. You’ve got a real talent for this, @boingboing-24d485cb8ab9cf1bfce152eb5cbce3a6:disqus .

I’m “the guy,” I must admit. Joking in text (without the benefit of vocal and facial clues) can sometimes sound like condescension if you don’t know the person. But I could never genuinely condescend to active elderly people since I consider them to be superior to me and can only hope to be active when (and if) I’m elderly.

And if, at that time, a younger person refers to me as “adorably active,” I’ll just assume they’re joking.  Unless I’ve grown surly and hateful, in which case I’ll threaten them with my cane, yelling, “You condescending bastard!”

Or if I have dementia I’ll respond with, “Frankie? Frankie! They said you died in the war!”

Also, Prince Phillip could kick your ass.

Indeed, he is but one of many, many adorable, elderly men and women who could kick my ass.

I confess to having ambivalent feelings about guys who are sturdier in their 90s than I’ve ever been.

I love stained glass. These are great!

My mom learned stained glass awhile back, but it’s an expensive hobby. She intends to break out the grinder and the soldering gun in the next few years, now that there aren’t kids at home, etc. I wonder what kind of nerdy stuff she’d be willing to do…
