This 19th century mortuary in Saltburn-by-the-sea in North Yorkshire, England is up for sale by the Redcar and Cleveland Council. It's expected to make a pleasant beach chalet. Having stopped being a mortuary in the 1960s, it was most recently a shop. It still contains the original slab. (The Guardian)

In related news, a South Carolina funeral home is getting a Starbucks. (WSPA)

    Aaargh!

The UK desperately needs a MLS-type website to facilitate looking for a house sale….  You have to look at every friggin’ real estate company’s differently-user-interfaced website…. Grrr…

That said, there’s a really nice cottage in Stirling….

  • billstewart

Come up to the lab, and see what’s on the slab!Doesn’t quite look like a castle, though.

  • Yep

Awesome. I’m dying for a cup of coffee.

      Well, somebody had to….

Will that be a tall, grande, venti, or morte?

That news video made my head feel lopsided: Non-diegetic sound in one ear, and diegetic sound in the other (I was using headphones).

Also: I thought WJLA was 7 on my side? Feh, I bet all the channel 7′s say that to everyone.

This building has creeped me out every time I’ve ever walked past it. It’s just on the side of a hit, about 100 yards from a pub but with no other stuff nearby and then carved on the front “Mortuary”. Interesting to see whats inside it.
If BB is interested, I’ll happilly drive over there tomorrow and take a few pictures…

    • sockdoll

Buy it and turn it back into a mortuary!
