The special "Zine Issue" of Atom Magazine has an interview with me about the good old zine days of bOING bOING. The made their entire issue look like a late 80s zine -- cool! Read it here.

Mark Frauenfelder is the founder of Boing Boing and the editor-in-chief of MAKE and Cool Tools. Twitter: @frauenfelder. Come and hear Mark speak at the ALA conference in Chicago on July 1.

Haha, this makes me recall the 1994 Zine Scream in Los Angeles…Boing Boing was one of my favorites, along with Ben is Dead.

Criminey, I feel like I’m extolling the virtues of John Philip Sousa. Which isn’t a bad thing.

I thought I was being pretty original, using layout like that in ’84.

I remember how excited I was when I found out my zine had been reviewed favorably by both bOING bOING and Factsheet Five. Now I explain to people that zines were early, paper-based blogs.
