    Nice leopard print tattoo!

    And I thought counting a girl’s freckles was a fun foreplay game . . .

  • absimiliard

    Wow!

    Thanks Xeni, this is awesome.

-abs doesn’t want to downplay how cool Bat-girl costumes are, or how much he likes this, or even how much he likes the model (particularly those leopard-spot tattoos, they put -abs’s ink to shame), but  . . . ummmmmm. . . . . .. “I’ll be in mah bunk” (to put it in “Firefly Colloquial”)  (perhaps not literally, but definitely so metaphorically, just . . . “WOW does she push my buttons”)

i’m disappointed to see bb giving sg any press, especially from a female writer.  there’s more than enough information out there about what a dirtbag sean suhl is, and the institution itself is no different than any other porn site out there, once you strip away the alterna-dork-trappings.

    • http://www.facebook.com/linrichardson Lin Richardson

I agree it is pornographic, but I’ve actually met quite a few female fans over the years. I’d be surprised if many men were paying for subscriptions to it, purely as a masturbation aid, when there’s a whole internet of real porn out there for free. And once you take away those people, then who’s left, other than people appreciating something creative, being done well?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Spitty-Sumo/100002601661770 Spitty Sumo

my biggest problem with it isn’t that it’s porn; it’s that it is what it pretends not to be.

it’s not redefining beauty: the women would meet most anyone’s ideas of beauty without the hair dye, skin ink, and piercings.

and it’s not empowering to women: it’s all run by a man.

if you like looking at girls who look a certain way, that’s awesome, to each their own.  but i dislike the pretense that sg is girl/woman friendly, empowering, redefining, et cetera.

        • Paul Dmytrewycz

Aside from the rest of your commentary, with which, having no frame of reference, I neither agree nor disagree, I found this:

“and it’s not empowering to women: it’s all run by a man”

troubling. Are those two things (“run by a man” and “empowering to women”) prima facie mutually exclusive?

          • https://twitter.com/PhoetrySlam Cyran0

            Nicely put!

And, not all feminists are female.

        • http://twitter.com/AwesomeRobot AwesomeRobot

It’s actually kind of sexist to say that a man can’t be a feminist on the sole basis of being a man. Not saying you’re wrong in not liking the site, it’s just that if you do have an actual thing to be angry about you worded it pretty poorly.

        • http://twitter.com/VisceralVixen Visceral Vixen

Y’know, I’m not really going to lose sleep over the plight of a bunch of rich white girls who decide to let someone take photos of them in their underwear. I know this sounds horribly victim-blamey, but SG  is known for not having the best conditions and the pay is pretty pathetic; clearly the girls have chosen this because of the alt prestige involved in saying you’re an SG.
If you really want to fight people exploiting women in porn, pick on those bottom-dwelling specimens of humanity involved with things like “Ghetto Gaggers” and “Latina Abuse” (and a warning, once exposed to the stuff there you may lose all faith in humanity)

What I have an issue with, is that in my experience, people who champion SG will sneer and deride girls who fit the conventional mold of attractiveness – ie; girls with bleached hair, spray tans, breast implants – as “bimbos” and “attention-whores” when isn’t SG pretty much the same thing, just with a different look? I dunno, at least a bad spray tan will wash off. Tattoos…nnnnnot so simple.

    • http://twitter.com/AwesomeRobot AwesomeRobot

I’d say erotic, but not pornographic — I don’t see anything explicit about it.

Anything from within the last five years? Most of those links are seven years old.

      • thatveiledgazelle

i’m not sure that matters.  at the end of the day, it’s a guy profiting off of women’s bodies.  it’s maybe a step above pimping, but not much.  i’m not anti-sex, or anti-porn (much), but i’ll stick to media created, sold and profited off of by the people depicted, myself.

        • http://www.openbuddha.com/ Al Billings

It matters if the facts are five years out of date. What’s the current situation? Do you actually know?

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Spitty-Sumo/100002601661770 Spitty Sumo

          pretty much All of this.

as for when the alleged events transpired, that really doesn’t matter; they were never disproven that i am aware of.  i’d genuinely like to know if i’ve missed the part where suhl made an apology or an explanation or any statement of the sort regarding the matter beyond “bitches be crazy.”

        • Paul Dmytrewycz

“it’s a guy profiting off of women’s bodies”

And this is inherently bad? Even if “guy” & “women” have reached a mutually beneficial agreement? Not necessarily saying that’s what’s going on with SG. I’m just trying to understand your baseline for acceptability of any kind of financial arrangement involving men and women.

          • thatveiledgazelle

like anything, it’s a question of degrees. i get the impression from a friend of mine who worked in the porn industry that suicide girls doesn’t pay much at all to the actual girls in question, and they have more exploitative contracts.  she recommended other places for being more model-driven, better paying and less sketchy.

i didn’t mean to make a blanket condemnation of transactions like that, more that generally they’re problematic.

again, i’ll stick to erotic media made by the models themselves, and profited off of by them. your mileage may vary.

  • absimiliard

Hrmm, realized I’d forgotten to mention how cool it is that the setting looks all 60′s, to match the vintage-ness of the bat-girl costume.

-abs thinks she would have fit right in alongside Adam West on that set, the “Whooosh!” feels thematically appropriate for the TV show too

  • flickerKuu

As much as I like the imagery, and non-plastic beauty of the SG’s, I can’t help to wonder what all these hipster kids will look like 20 years down the road. Has tattoo ink improved, or will all these tats look like gnarly blurry sailor tattoos I see on old timers? If so there’s gonna be a lot of ugly skin out there in the near future….

    • Jay Converse

Stock tip – invest in companies that make Laser Tattoo removal equipment.

    • xian

      * face palm *

    • Saltine

Depends. The ink does spread, so the edges lose definition. But the colors stay bright if you keep out of the sun. This all based on how time has impacted my own ink.

    • http://www.nathanhornby.com/ Nathan Hornby

If you’re old enough for it to be a blurry old wrinkle zone, does it matter?

Or in other words “shut up dad”.

  • awjt

Truly wonderful. Ding ding ding ding ding!!!!!!!

  • disky00

I actually spent more time on the clothed bits than on the naked bits, and the ending was cool and unexpected. Great set.

  • Preston Sturges

     Piercings just make me sad

    • technogeekagain

I have to agree; most piercings strike me the same way most “tramp stamps” do — or the way a cigarette does — as evidence of bad judgement… and for me, that’s an immediate turn-off. Attractive bodies are nice things but I want to think I’d like the person wearing them or I lose interest rapidly.

I’m not even a fan of pierced earrings, really.

OK, I admit I’m a product of my times.  But I haven’t seen a lot of stapled decoration that I actually consider creative or interesting, and I don’t expect to until there are major breakthroughs in technology that allow something like the body-caged dragon puppet mentioned toward the end of Babel 17… or at the very least integrated light effects.

(Having said that: Poorly-executed tats make me sad too. Though this set looks like they were individually done well, I’d be more impressed if they were better integrated into a theme or at least flowed into each other a bit more smoothly. )

      • http://www.nathanhornby.com/ Nathan Hornby

Someone should let these people who make personal appearance decisions that you’re not a big fan of them. They’ll be devastated.

  • LaylaSV

Can we get an arty, naked hipster-boy chaser?

    • Antinous / Moderator

      Sure.

      • LaylaSV

Oh hell, the rollerblades slay me.

I was totally bummed at the SG pinup coverage on Boing Boing, but since I like nerdy naked girls just fine, I thought I’d feel better about the whole thing if there were just more male nekkidness in general. And it turns out I do!

  • http://twitter.com/ducchau99 duc chau

    Totally haute.

  • technogeekagain

(Whups, that was supposed to be a Reply.)

  • technogeekagain

I sorta like the sequence as an answer to “what kind of underwear _does_ a superhero wear under something that tight”… And the “Whoosh” is classic Adam West Batman overlay; well done, and nicely integrated with the star shapes in the background.

I’m disappointed by the stitching/edging of the bat-symbol, though; they really should have taken  more care.  Good enough as stage costuming, especially if she has the body-acting skills to supplement; not really good enough for workmanship judging.

I’d have liked just a bit less obvious pose-for-camera and more storyline… let her move around “her” apartment casually-but-slinkily shedding the outfit, stretching (always good for posing) and starting to catch up with her non-crimefighter life until she’s interrupted. Basically, take what they did with the phone sequence and carry it backward. Make her a character, not just a well-dressed-and-decorated body.

      Everybody’s a fucking critic.

  • http://twitter.com/random_tangent Drew Coombs

Leave it to the BoingBoing comments to shit on a bunch of gorgeous photos of a girl dressed as Batman and then not.

  • http://disqus.com/Kimmoth/ Kimmo

SG is supposedly a bit of an unsavoury organisation, from what I gather…

But damn, Radeo’s areolae tatts are pure win : )

  • malindrome

Bad idea posting photos with the mask off – now everyone will know her secret identity.

  • JhmL

Nice! Better than that Nolan stuff… :)

  • RJ

She’s a very sexy girl. The kind you don’t take home to mother.

On the other hand, those nip tattoos made me shiver. Some people are way too devoted to the ink.

    • blueelm

Your mother vets your parners? Or do you mean you’d screw her, but only as a dirty secret. Bit rude no?

  • intheshadowofleaves

Oy, we’re still pretending that Suicide Girls are cool because they’re “alternative” (whatever that means) and not just a different flavour of crass exploitation?

  • miss niki

    lorda-mercy

  • http://www.markcrummett.com crummett

What the…! She took her MASK off! Come on! That’s just WRONG!

  • Spencer Brown-Pearn

Brb, buying wife a batgirl costume.

  • blueelm

Hmm… it’s a cute shoot. Not a fan of SG, but that doesn’t make it a bad idea for a photoshoot. I don’t really see why people are saying it shouldn’t be posted here. Almost everything is connected to something exploitative and awful, and looking away doesn’t do much good. I don’t know, maybe I’m just seeing some really fun photo opportunities here.  I think it would have been more fun with more superhero poses, but then I like everything pushed to absurdity where possible.

I guess what I’m saying is context matters. If Xeni had posted this and lauded SG as being progressive and so much better than other erotica/porn in the way its business is run, then I would see a point to argue. But “this is a cute idea” isn’t the same thing.

So… do I have Xeni’s endorsement to fap to this? Forget the girl. I want that apartment!!
